VW reboots Scout Motors with direct-to-consumer EV trucks

The news: Scout Motors, which is now owned by Volkswagen (VW), introduced the electric Traveler SUV and Terra pickup. Slated for release in 2028, the Scout EVs blend brand nostalgia with EV ranges of up to 350 miles.

Scout Motors will offer plug-in EV and gas-hybrid models, which could attract buyers on the fence due to range- and charging-anxiety issues.

VW’s $5 billion investment in Rivian gives it access to cutting-edge EV technology as well as expertise in building electric trucks.
