Tariffs will reshape consumers’ spending habits

The stat: Three in 4 US consumers (76%) plan to reduce spending if tariffs cause prices to rise, according to a survey by CivicScience.

Behind the numbers: Dining out could be one of the biggest casualties of tariffs: Half of consumers said they would cut back on fast food, while 46% plan to reduce fast-casual or full-service spending.

Discretionary spending, particularly on experiences, is also likely to be hard-hit.
