The news: Luxury ecommerce retailer Mytheresa is doubling down on China, even as the country’s economic malaise causes sales of luxury goods to plummet.
- The company announced a new Chinese name, “Mei Lin Shi,” which translates to “beauty,” “selection,” and “world,” which the retailer says “perfectly embodies” its mission of offering luxury enthusiasts a highly curated selection of top brands.
- Mytheresa also launched a WeChat Mini Program, which shoppers in China can use to browse products and retailer exclusives, chat with customer service representatives, and make purchases using WeChat Pay.
