Merchants want high sales conversions—this is the tech they think will get them there

The news: Forty-five percent of merchants preferred one-click solutions as their most desired checkout and payment technologies from their payment service providers (PSPs), according to a recent survey from a partnership between PYMNTS Intelligence and Mastercard.

Why one-click payments? Merchants want frictionless checkout experiences that boost sales conversions. Removing the headache of inputting personal info and payment credentials can increase customer service experiences—and ideally, customer loyalty.

The second- and third-most desired tech features included secure card on file and biometric authentication, also aids in swifter, safer point-of-sale (POS) experiences.

Missed opportunities: Within the same survey, 22% of merchants were unaware that they could request tech upgrades from their PSP. A sizable chunk of vendors are missing huge chances to modernize their sales experience.

Our take: To maintain high sales conversions, digital POS experiences need to be simple, easy and secure. Streamlined checkout experiences also help prevent cart abandonment, per Blueshift.
