Governments take action to slow Temu’s rise

The news: Temu’s regulatory woes are piling up as governments around the world scrutinize its business practices and crack down to protect local retailers.

  • The European Union asked Temu for more information on how it’s complying with the Digital Services Act, including measures to prevent the sale of illegal products on its marketplace.
  • The Indonesian government requested that Google and Apple remove Temu from their app stores in the country, a pre-emptive move to protect small and medium-sized businesses. (Temu can’t operate in the market.)
