Google expands Gemini AI to Workspace, driving mainstream AI adoption

The news: Google made its Gemini AI chatbot a standard feature for select Google Workspace plans. It’s the latest move from a Big Tech company wielding its large user base to push AI features into the mainstream, per VentureBeat.

Starting in Q4, Gemini AI will be included in Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Frontline accounts across Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail, eliminating the need for add-ons and bringing AI to its many of its 3 billion Workspace users.

Big Tech’s AI strategies depend on existing platforms: Various companies have brought generative AI (genAI) functionality to existing platforms and products, either as public beta features (meaning they’re still under development), or as major upgrades to push wider adoption.
