Google and Amazon upgrade visual search capabilities as adoption grows

The news: Google and Amazon each announced updates to their in-app visual search capabilities to help shoppers quickly surface the products they’re looking for, and deliver more relevant results.

Google targets shoppers: Per Google, 20% of the nearly 20 billion visual searches conducted each month on Google Lens are shopping-related, as users look for outfit inspiration and design ideas, or try to identify items they’ve seen on the street or on social media.

  • To make the feature even more useful for shoppers, Google Lens now displays price comparisons between retailers, product reviews, deals, and details on where to buy the item.
