FAST streaming trend accelerates as more services join the market

The trend: The FAST (free, ad-supported TV) model is having a moment, as evidenced by the launch of Free Live Sports (FLS), a streaming service with more than 100 live sports channels that’s available in over 75 countries, Variety reports.

Free Live Sports’ entry comes as free, ad-supported streaming services continue to proliferate and gain popularity.

  • CBC has expanded its FAST portfolio with two channels dedicated to popular Canadian series “Heartland” and “Murdoch Mysteries,” per TVTechnology. Each series features 17 seasons, and the channels are now available on CBC Gem, with plans to launch on other connected TV platforms.
