The news: Disney’s password-sharing crackdown for Disney+ is here, setting the streaming service up for a lengthy influx of new subscribers—while leaving customers facing extra costs to access entertainment content.

  • Unveiled this week, the plan calls for Disney+ to charge an extra $6.99 and $9.99 monthly for each additional person attached to an account for its Basic and Premium tiers, respectively. Disney said that subscriptions are “meant to be used within your household, which is a collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence.”
