Gen Alpha is still taking shape as the first generation to be born entirely in the 21st century. But technology is already a constant in their lives: In the US, 36.0 million children are active internet users, exceeding teen internet users by 11.4 million, per our forecast. Below are three charts to help you understand this demographic.

Note: Gen Alpha does not yet have a defined cap in terms of birth year. For the purposes of this article, we define the future Gen Alpha as being born in the early 2010s.

Gen Alpha Will Make the US Even More Diverse

The future Gen Alpha, currently made up of 45.6 million US children, is already more diverse than the general US population. This owes to growth in two key groups:

  • Hispanic people represent 18.9% of the US population overall, but 26% of children.
  • Around 3% of the US population is mixed race, but this more than doubles to 7% among children.
