Consumer distrust in crypto will limit payment players’ recent launches

The news: More than 6 in 10 Americans (63%) have little to no confidence that cryptocurrencies are reliable or safe, per Pew Research.

  • Distrust is higher among older Americans: 71% of adults aged 50 and older said they don’t believe it’s reliable or safe.
  • And 82% of Americans who are familiar with crypto but have not invested in it distrust its safety and reliability. This is compared with 39% of those who have invested in it.
