Apple News ad revenues are ‘abysmal.’ Here’s what advertisers can do

The news: Publishers are unhappy with the ad revenues they’re seeing from Apple News compared to the engagement they receive and despite Apple’s push to sell more ad inventory, per Digiday.

  • Despite operating as a useful traffic referral source for publishers, ad revenues on Apple News are “shockingly abysmal” in comparison to the platform’s audience, an anonymous publishing exec told Digiday.
  • Per the executive, ad revenues from Apple News are in the “low hundreds of thousands a year, when it would be millions if it were [on-site] traffic.” Another four publishing execs stated that they haven’t seen any boost in revenues since Apple News began selling its ad inventory in November.
