Adobe’s SlimLM keeps AI on-device, with no need for data centers or internet

The news: Adobe researchers created SlimLM, a series of small language models (SLM) designed for smartphones.

  • SlimLM is designed for document assistance, including tasks like generating summaries, suggesting questions, and answering complex queries.
  • The SLM can work without an internet connection while running entirely on-device, which could reduce computing costs. It isn't yet offered as an Adobe feature.
